Healthy men and women needed for the study of a potential new medicine for treating infections with certain types of viruses, including the COVID-19 virus. You must be aged 18 to 65 and must not have used any nicotine products for at least 6 months. Vegetarians are allowed. The study involves a bronchoscopy, 4 nights’ residence in our wards and 1 follow-up appointment. Starts 25 April 2021.

Healthy volunteers needed for the study of a potential new medicine for treating certain types of autoimmune diseases. You must be healthy, aged 18 to 65, weigh less than 50 Kg and have a BMI between 18 and 32 kg/m2. Vegetarians and light smokers are allowed. The trial involves 5 nights’ residence on our wards and 9 outpatient visits. Starts 05 May 2021.

Healthy volunteers needed for the study of a potential new treatment for NASH, a type of liver disease. You must be 18 to 45 years old, willing to consume gelatine and not have used nicotine products in the last 12 months. You won’t be eligible if you're of East Asian origin. Vegetarians allowed. It involves 2 sessions and 1 follow-up. Session 1 consists in 3 nights’ residence on our wards and 3 outpatient visits. Session 2 consists in 11 nights’ residence. Starts 26 April 2021

People with psoriasis needed for the study of a potential new treatment to help reduce the symptoms of inflammatory diseases such as psoriasis and atopic dermatitis (eczema). You must be aged 18 to 65 and have been diagnosed with plaque psoriasis by your GP at least 6 months ago. Smokers and vegetarians are allowed. The study involves 10 outpatient visits over approximately 14 weeks.  New groups starting from 04 May 2021.

Volunteers with high levels of lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] needed for the study of an experimental new medicine for treating the condition. We’ll first take a blood sample from you to check your levels of Lp(a). You must be at least 18 years old and have a BMI between 18 and 45. Vegetarians and smokers are allowed. The trial involves 2 screening visits, 2 nights’ residence on our wards and 7 outpatient visits. Study ongoing for several months

People who have depression needed for a study in which DMT is being developed as an experimental new treatment for this condition. You must be at least 18 years old and have a BMI between 18 and 30.9. Vegetarians, vegans and smokers are allowed. The study involves 2 sessions of 2 nights’ residence on our wards, 1 follow-up visit, and 4 follow-up phone or video calls. Starts in summer 2021.

£2,600 + reasonable travel expenses

Volunteers in general good health needed to help find a treatment for Alpha-1-Antitrypsin Deficiency (AATD). You must have one or two copies of the Z mutation (PiXZ).  You must also be 18 to 72 years old, white (AATD affects mostly white Europeans), and not have used any nicotine products for at least 1 month. The study involves 2 sessions of 2 nights’ residence in our wards and 10 outpatient visits, over 2 months.  Next group starts 29 April 2021.

Healthy volunteers needed for a study in which DMT is being developed as an experimental new treatment for depression. You must be at least 25 years old. Vegetarians, vegans and smokers of up to 10 cigarettes a day (or equivalent) are allowed. The study involves 2 nights’ residence on our wards and 4 follow-up phone or video calls. You won’t be suitable if you’ve previously taken psychedelic drugs. Study ongoing until July 2021.

Healthy men needed for the study of a potential new medicine for treating communication difficulties and sleep problems linked to autism. You must be 18 to 55, and not have used any nicotine products in the last 3 months. The study involves one lumbar puncture and polysomnography, and it consists in 1 session of 16 nights’ residence in our wards and 3 outpatient visits. Next groups start on  23 and 30 April 2021.

Men and postmenopausal or sterilised women who have osteoarthritis of the knee needed for the study of a potential new medicine to treat the condition. You must be 40 to 75 years old and have a BMI between 19 and 34.9. Vegetarians and smokers are allowed. The study involves 4 screenings, 18 study visits, 2 additional visits for Covid-19 tests, and 1 telephone call.  Groups ongoing from April 2021

Healthy men needed for the study of a potential new medicine for treating Parkinson’s disease. You must be aged 18 to 55 and must not have used any nicotine products for at least 6 months. Vegetarians are allowed. The study involves 7 nights’ residence on our wards and 6 outpatient visits, including 2 MRI scans and 2 lumbar punctures.  Groups starting 10, 11, 18 and 19 May 2021.

Smokers are also allowed but they can’t use nicotine containing products while in the ward. The study involves 2 screening visits, 4 nights' residence on our wards and 6 outpatient visits.  Groups starting 17, 18 and 19 May 2021.

Healthy people who vape (using e-cigarettes or e-liquids containing nicotine) are needed for a study of a marketed medicine that can help smokers also could help e-cigarette users to control their cravings. You must be aged 19 to 55 and if you also smoke, be willing to stop smoking for 9 days. The study involves 1 screening visit, and residence in our modern wards for 2 days and 1 night. Groups starting weekly until June 2021
